A couple of tips for the Tamiya 1/20 Tyrrell P34

If you are building the 1/20 Tyrrell P34 kit from Tamiya
Here is tip, It works for all modelling: "THINK BEFORE BUILD" or to be more P34 specific:

Mask off the area outlined in red before painting. Less chance of scratching the paint while scraping off the area for the glue. I forgot to and had three layers of paint to remove. I know that I surly have forgotten this when I build next one and have to remove the paint on that one to.

The oil tank will not fit with the engine completely built and mounted on the car. I wanted to have the tubing and wires finished on the engine before mounting it on the car I am also going to add some tubes to the oil tank but don't know where to add them before the engine is in place so I waited with it. Well it can't be added after the engine. Maybe it could slip through the roll bar if the X-member isn't attached. I removed the fuel filter on the engine and managed to squeeze the tank in place but I cant have any fittings or tubes on it then. I have to pre drill holes for them and attach them when the tank is in place.
